At Belaia, we believe that candles are more than just a decorative object, they are a way to create a warm and fragrant atmosphere in your home. That's why we've created a range of scented candles, made from the finest ingredients.
It might not seem like it at first glance, but burning a candle is quite an art! To get the maximum benefit from your candles, it is important to follow certain "best practices" when using them.
It would be a lie to say that these tips will only help you with Belaia candles. Indeed, this article is an overall user manual of the quality candle.
#1: Never leave a candle burning unattended.
This advice may seem trivial, but it is very important to remember to extinguish your candle when you leave the room or go to bed. Indeed, candles can trigger unexpected flames or sparks that can easily spread to flammable materials such as curtains, furniture or carpets. The wick can elongate which can cause overheating and damage the candle glass or cause property damage.
No. 2: Do not leave a candle within reach of children and animals.
We are not going to teach you today, a candle burns! If it seems obvious to you, it is much less so for children or our pets. It's even quite the opposite, the flame tends to attract them, which creates a risk of burns or fire if the candle is knocked over. It is therefore very important to put your candles out of their reach, and to keep an eye when it is lit.
N°3: Do not let a candle burn for more than 3 consecutive hours.
We recommend that you do not let our candles burn for more than 3 consecutive hours to avoid letting the wick get too long. This could have an impact on the combustion of the wax, and therefore create level differences. This could also lead to overheating and thus damage to the glass.
Tip 4: Do not move a candle when it is lit, or when the wax is still liquid.
First, by moving a lit candle, you risk spilling hot wax which can cause burns or a fire. Less seriously, if the wax is still liquid in the glass, it may move and dry along the wall, and thus reduce the quality of combustion.
No. 5: Do not burn a candle near a wall, a ceiling or a draft.
It is not recommended to burn a candle near a wall, ceiling or draft, as this can cause accidents. First, by burning a candle near a wall or ceiling, there is an increased risk of triggering unexpected flames or sparks that can easily spread to the materials that make up your walls and ceilings. Then, burning a candle near a draft can cause the candle flame to flicker, creating sparks and increasing the risk of fire.
N°6: Regularly cut the wick so that it does not exceed 1 cm in height.
As explained above, a wick that is too long can create overheating problems leading to poor combustion of the wax and damage to the glass. This is why it is very important to check the length of the wick before each lighting, and to cut it if it exceeds 1 cm in height.
N°7: Respect a minimum of 15 cm between two candles.
It is once again a matter of fire. Indeed, by burning two candles too close to each other, there is an increased risk of triggering unintended flames or sparks that can easily spread to flammable materials. Maintaining a distance of 15 cm also allows each candle to burn optimally by preventing the flames from disturbing each other.
N°8: Do not let a candle burn out completely, extinguish it when there is about 1 cm of wax left.
We recommend that you do not let your candle burn out completely, but extinguish it when there is about 1 cm of wax left to avoid the risk of overheating and thus damaging the glass of the candle. The heat generated by the flame can damage the container by melting or twisting it. That would be a shame, given that Belaia allows you to refill your candles without changing the glass.
